ERRIS IN CONNAUGHT CUP QUARETER FINAL.

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 6:34 pm

Iorras Aontaithe is through to the Quarter Finals of the Connaught Cup when they beat Conn Rangers at Carne Nash, final score, Erris Utd 3 Conn Rangers 1.
The first half ended with no score, but both sides had their opportunities especially in the opening ten minutes with Conn Rangers, Owen McNamara, Shane Burke and Simon Melly having their moments. But equally Iorras had their opportunities as will especially in the last eight minutes with Gareth O’Malley and Jason Boylan coming close.
But four minutes into the second half, a trade mark free from Brendan Nallan had Iorras in front, but Conn Rangers were back level on 66 minutes when Shane Maughan found space just outside the area. Then on 79 minutes Jason Boylan had Erris in front again with a great finish from the edge of the area and on 82 minutes substitute Pete MacArthur got his head to a Tom Murphy corner in a packed area to leave the final score 3-1.

Afterword’s Manager Martin McIntyre spoke very positively about the team performance.
A point of note, it was great to see John Gaughan making a welcomed return after a prolonged absents through injury and making a number of nice saves between the posts for the home side. Good luck to all in the Quarter final and a home draw, hopefully.
