IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BASS.

Erris Under 14’s were at home to Claremorris and despite struggling for long periods, ran out 4-2 winners. Cormac Murray and Mark Harding gave Erris an early two goal lead. Concentration levels dipped just before half time and the away side pulled one back. Manager Eric stressed the importance of keeping the ball in the second half but Claremorris dominated for long periods. Ten minutes in and the equalizer came from a long range shot.

At 2-2 the game was on a knife edge and the new stand could barely contain the excitement of two sets of fervent supporters. Erris changed tactics and absorbed the pressure. Keeper Anthony Walsh made a great save with his nose. Keelan Walker provided a great outlet on the right. Shea O’Donohue put his life on the line with superb challenges. Eoin McHale and Luke O’Reilly were magical in protecting the back four.
Firefly Eamonn Fallon broke up an attack and laser guided a pass to Evan Ivers. Receiving the ball on the half way line, back to goal, with two men to beat, no bother. Evan made it 3-2 with five minutes to play.
Everybody in the world knows, in this situation you should sit deep and try and run out the clock. But these young cavaliers are rewriting the rule book. Luke secured a free kick on the half way line with two minutes to go. The spectators urged him to take his time, no no, he pings a quick pass thirty yards to his own centre back on the edge of their box. Despite a couple of attempts to bring him down, Fionnan Ryan was too strong, too brave and too good as he slotted the ball into the net. Final score 4-2.
Well done to Eric and the lads. Special mention to Man of the Match Fionnan Ryan. His bedroom must be spotless as he tidied up everything today, going round like a Dyson and snuffing out danger after danger after danger. Fabulous.
Thank you to all the supporters, the stand was hopping.
