Iorras Aontaithe/Erris United pre-season training is continuing in preparation for the new Mayo league season which begins on April 11th. New Manager of the Super League side, Michael S. Togher has announced that Martin McIntyre and Rob Turner will be part of his back room team. Its great to see Martin and Rob back in the club again, as there experience will prove invaluable as the season pans out. Erris United (B) played Inver United in a pre-season friendly recently, the game ending one all.
Congratulations to Shane McIntyre (60kg) who claimed his third Irish title, and his first for the Golden Gloves boxing club in Belmullet following a thrilling 4-0 verdict over 2009 European Schoolboy Championships bronze medallist Victor Medveduic at the Boy & Girl 4 National finals at National Stadium in Dublin. Shane boxed superbly through out, he has, to his credit, two Irish underage titles boxing for the Geesala BC, commanding a 2-0 advantage going in the final round against the skilful Tramore BC club-man before adding another two points to his total to seal a deserved victory.
Shane is a prominent member of the Erris United U14 side and is wished every success in the future.
